While using soft-serve ice cream is preferable to use with this machine, you may also use hard ice cream with a generous amount of milk.

There are two major factors in creating a delicious milkshake: temperature and liquid. If using hard ice cream, be sure to add enough milk to the malt cup to balance the hardness of the ice cream. The optimum temperature for milkshake ice cream is about 20 degrees Fahrenheit. The harder the ice cream, the more milk that is required for the machine to mix the ingredients properly. Without enough liquid, the hard ice cream may limit of the power of the drink mixer spindle, causing it to not spin to its full potential. Eventually, this could even burn out the motor of the unit. We recommend adding enough milk to fill the cup up to the first indentation or marker located on the side. To begin making your milkshake, attach the cup to the machine, manually mixing for a couple seconds to start the mixing process, and then let the Galaxy SDM400 finish the job!
